Hugging Our Extra Mom

Today was relatively low key. Our hosts (more on them later) fed us an early breakfast of steamed bread and beans and potatoes and we left for the airport. But not the flight back home quite yet. We decided against getting a full bodyassafe on the rocky roads into Kathmandu and we flew from Bharatpur. It's a very small airport that seems to just have one plane going in an out.
Check in was easy, they checked both our bags, and we passed through male and female security respectively. We'd been told to expect long waits but the plane showed up only half an hour late. It was a full flight of probably 50 and we had a great view. Despite hazy scratched windows. I was in awe of these mountains and winding roads everywhere but then I looked farther and saw the tips of the Himalayas poking through the clouds. Now those are mountains!
Shortly after we arrived back at our hotel, Gopal and Kunti's husband showed up. And Kunti was on her way. Kunti is extremely special to us as she was essentially our nanny in the village. Here is a before and after of us.
She told us stories like about how she wasn't supposed to carry me but she did when she could and when Jonathan was told no she also said no. It sounds like we had fun with her. I am so happy we were able to make the arrangements last minute and we all got teary eyed saying goodbye

While we were talking to her, we had another nice surprise. We hadn't got to see my "big sister" Mina in the village but she also came over to our hotel. She is in Kathmandu looking for work. It was really lovely seeing her too.
After finally saying our goodbyes, we went to do our gift shopping. Lucky for us some good gift shops are just a short walk. We stocked up on some jewelry and small items at a trafficking mission store. A lady who was therekept talking to us and asking about us. She knew about Wycliffe and was very excited to hear our grandparents were practically founding members and said when she studied theology she learned about Wycliffe training.

We went from there to a clothes store I had bought a nice dress at and got more clothes for gifts. We went to the big Lokti Paper Craft store and really piled the purchases on.

We bought a beer and some muffins on the way back and Jonathan did an amazing job of stuffing the suitcase Heidi gave us. Now 2 are chilling until it's dark enough to sleep
